For a complex project in the city center of Den Bosch (NL), our partner Du Pré Groenprojecten worked on the realization of the rooftop garden above the parking garage of the residential building Amadeiro. With a limited maximum load on the underlying parking deck, the challenge was not only to consider the potential but also the possibilities of the roof.
The height of the rooftop garden was increased by using ND SG Foam Glass, a lightweight material weighing approximately 150 kg per m³ and highly pressure-resistant.
The foam glass was installed directly on top of the ND 620 Drainage System and then compressed with a vibrating plate. Our ND 620 Drainage System is suitable for this purpose due to the woven filter fabric glued to the dimple sheet. The high compressive strength and excellent creep resistance of the ND 620 Drainage System ensure that the drainage capacity is maintained.
Foam glass was also used in the planters. Our ND FV-300 Filter Geotextile was used to separate the foam glass and the substrate layer. In the planters, our ND WSM-50 Water Reservoir Panels were placed with intensive substrate on top. By using our ND WSM-50 Water Reservoir Panels, an additional water buffer capacity of 40 liters per m² was created.
Between the planters, walkways were created using brick paving. The stones were placed on a layer of gravel, with the ND FV-300 Filter Geotextile, ND SG Foam Glass, and ND 620 Drainage System underneath, including our ND TSF-100 Slip and Protection Sheet at the bottom of the roofing system for extra protection.
