Extensive | pitched roof – one layer

The ideal system for installing a maintenance-friendly extensive green roof with sedum and herbs. Suitable for extensive vegetation on pitched roofs with a slope of 15-25° that have a single-layer composition.

The thickness of this substrate layer consists of the sum of the water-draining layer and the growing medium layer. The minimum construction height of the mineral substrate layer is 60 mm for vegetation blankets and 80 mm for cuttings or plug plants. The substrate is placed in the drainage. Therefore, the drainage height does not count.

Erosion protection at the core of the system

This is a single-layer structure. The core of this green roof is formed by the ND 6+1esn Erosion Protection System on a roll and is suitable for roofs with a slope of 15-25°. With single-layer structures, the function of the growing-medium layer, the filter layer and the drainage layer is taken over by a mineral substrate. The ND DGS-M Substrate Mineral is installed directly to the drainage core of the ND 6+1esn.

The substrate must have good horizontal water drainage capacity and be filter stable. Because the mineral substrate is a natural product, the horizontal drainage capacity is difficult to calculate. Over time, the water drainage capacity decreases due to root penetration of the substrate layer and silting of the lower layers of the substrate.

With this system we recommend using a root-resistant waterproofing membrane to limit the risk of sliding. More information regarding erosion protection can be found in the FLL guidelines.
